"If you twist for anyone, they like the twisted shape of you not you." - Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie tells women.

Award winning novelist, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, yesterday had the honour of giving the commencement speech to the class of 2015 at Wellesley College, Massachusetts. She spoke on her favourite topic, Feminism. She urged the graduates to try their best to change the world to one more equal for men and for women by giving men the freedom to be vulnerable, and women, the choice to be strong.
Excerpt and video from her speech below:

We can not always bend the world into the shapes we want but we can try, we can make a concerted and real and true effort. And you are privileged that, because of your education here, you have already been given many of the tools that you will need to try. Always just try. Because you never know.
And so as you graduate, as you deal with your excitement and your doubts today, I urge you to try and create the world you want to live in. Minister to the world in a way that can change it. Minister radically in a real, active, practical, get your hands dirty way.

Just because people don't listen to your dreams & aspiration doesn't mean they are irrelevant. (Must read)

On January 12, 2007, a man sat on the side of a train station in Washington D.C. USA, while playing on a violin that cold morning. He played for about 45 minutes as over 1000 people passed by him. A minute later, the man received his first dollar tip from a woman who without stopping threw the money into the basket beside him.

A few minutes later, someone stopped to listen to the music, but looked at his watch and walked away. The only one who paid the most attention to the violinist was a 3 year old boy who kept turning his head to look as his mother hurriedly tagged him along. Several other children did the same but all the parents, without exception, forced them to move on. Out of the 1,100 people who passed by, only 6 people stopped and 20 gave him money. He collected a total of only $32 that day.

Suddenly, silence filled the train station as he finished playing. No one noticed it, no one applauded, no one recognize that the man putting on an old face cap, who played the violin was Joshua Bell, one of the most talented musicians in the world. He had just played one of the most intricate pieces ever written, on a violin worth $3.5 million dollars.

Time-lapse transformation of homeless vet makeover to see the potentials in people we ignore everyday. (Video + pix)

If there is one thing that'll make you cry in a feel-good kind of way today, it's this.
A 25-years-old American local video producer, Rob Bliss, has set out to prove that potential exists even in the people we ignore in footage that has quickly spread across the internet. The clip features a homeless U.S. Army war veteran, Jim Wolf, who struggled with poverty and alcoholism for years. While these internal struggle can take a long time to cast off and reverse, it took only a few hours in a saloon chair to change wolf, an homeless man, into an incredible handsome man with potentials.

Rob Bliss, the video producer, said he did the transformation because he was trying to get himself into doing things for a better purpose. "If I can only get people to look at any homeless person on the street and see the mirror image of them - the image of someone who would look socially acceptable - realise that potential, that 'what if,' and root for their success," Bliss said.
Since his makeover, Wolf will soon move into his own apartment and has been attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.

While this transformation was for one man and the video encourages people to donate to a specific, local ministry, it also contains messages that reach much further.

One is that "an outward transformation is important, but an inward one is more important and the other is that hopefully, it will help to change stereotypes to give people a perspective that "everyone is worthy of being treated with dignity and respect."

The touching moment Pope Francis halted his weekly audience to kiss and hold disfigured man with 'Elephant Man' disease(Photos)

These are photos of the pontiff embracing a disfigured man suffering from a rare genetic disease called neurofibromatosis. The pictures have gone viral with commenters praising the pope for his compassion. Since being elected to the Holy See earlier this year, the pontiff has made headlines around the world by washing the feet of juvenile delinquents, personally calling distraught worshipers on the phone and inviting homeless people to dine at St Peter's Square.
He is truly a man after God's heart.

Awww...Restaurant Leaves Inspirational Message On Takeout Container After Customer Is Dumped. (Photo)

After a bad breakup, moral support can be found in the most unlikely places...even on takeouts containers.

On Monday, Redditor Icanteven721, whose real name is Sam, shared the message the staff at Truly Vegan in Los Angeles scribbled on her takeout box after she ordered some food online and left some pretty specific directions in the special instructions box: "Please draw something uplifting on the container, I just got dumped," she wrote.

"I was very very pleased with the result," Sam told the Huffington Post via email. "I’ve kept the container. I look at it when I feel particularly down about this relationship, or when some other dude does some other stupid dude thing."

Our hats are off to you, staff at Truly Vegan. Underlining "have a nice day" and adding a few extra smiley faces would have sufficed, but this is so much better.
What a great customers service. I think i'm gonna need something like that to cheer me up :-)

Singletons: Things To Know Before You Fall In Love.
Don't ever rush into falling in love for love never runs out. Even if they mock you because you are single, its better to be single than to be in a relationship of SORROW Just tell them this "God is busy writing the best love story that will sweep me off my feet!"

If you find yourself in love with someone who does not love you, let it go and be gentle on yourself. There is nothing wrong with you, Love just didn't choose to rest in the other person's heart.
Let it go, there's a reason and a meaning, you will know in time....

Always remember that sometimes we have to ignore how we FEEL and realize what we DESERVE!
True love isn't something that is forced, it is something that just happens. Many people are so hungry for love that they choose to bite the first type of love that they may see even if it's toxic; don't be a fool for love, choose your love wisely.

If you decide to sell your love for a pack of Mr.Biggs meal or McDonald's Burger chips....,don't blame anyone in the future.
Remember it's not about being what everyone wants you to be, it's about being yourself and finding someone who truly loves you for who you are and never forget it is not how you feel now that is really important......, it’s your state of happiness in the future.

Think about this if you are single and really ready to mingle.

Valentine's Thought From Me To You: Love & Friendship.

This song blew my mind from the first moment i heard it. It was in 2011 and i was in Nigeria with my best friend; there was this popular demand on a radio station and when i heard it, i called in to the radio station, gave my name and that of my friend and dedicated the song to him.

It wasn't like there was no other person i would have dedicated it to, but no other person was him. We grew up together, we fought, we hated,we loved and we got each other's back even when we had nothing. While we were and still far away from each other, we still fight and make up on phone over nothing, we hurt each other on purpose but hate to see others hurt us, we talk about everything and anything, we insult each other at any given opportunity and no one ever interferes in our drama. Now we are grown ups and we can throw money around but we still remain grounded and committed to our friendship. This is what i call love and friendship because we were and will always be there for each other and that's why i call him my best friend.

Each time i listen to this song, it blows my mind. This is what love stories used to sound like. I just hope that people listen to more of such musics and live by them. Money is a necessity but it should never be equated to love. It's really something of shame these days to see guys and ladies turning relationships into something of 'Trade by bata".

Well, let's stop equating money to love and we will always be happy.
Singles like me spend valentine period sharing love and that's exactly what i'm doing right now. #I'm sharing my thoughts lol#
Enjoy the music peeps after the cut and have a wonderful evening. (ONE NAIRA by MI feat WAJE)

Relationship Issues: Things To Do When Choosing A Life Partner

When it comes to making the decision about choosing a life partner, no one wants to make a mistake. Yet, with a divorce rate of close to 50%, it appears that many are making serious mistakes in their approach to finding Mr./Miss. Right!
If you ask most couples who are engaged why they’re getting married, they’ll say: “We’re in love”; I believe this is the ..1 mistake people make when they date. Choosing a life partner should never be based on love. Though this may sound “not politically correct”, there’s a profound truth here.
Love is not the basis for getting married. Rather, love is the result of a good marriage. When the other ingredients are right, then the love will come. Let me say it again: “You can’t build a lifetime relationship on love alone”; You need a lot more!!!

Here are five questions you must ask yourself if you’re serious about finding and keeping a life partner.

A Poem Dedicated To Nigerians Especially Those Who Died In The Crash. - "I WEEP" by Rafat Idris Salami

I weep.
Not only for the Governor and all those who died in the chopper crash.
I weep.
Not only for those that have died needless deaths.
I weep.
Not only for killings in the name of religion/God
I weep.
Not only for threats of insurgency
I weep.
Not only for the kidnappings and trauma.
I weep.
But for people who at a time of soul searching choose to celebrate.
I weep.
For those who have lost the sense of empathy
I weep.
For a people loosing its soul to the devil
I weep.
For the uncertain future.
I weep.
For no matter the recriminations, two wrongs wont make a right.
I weep.
RIP YAKOWA, AZAZI, and others.

I came across this piece online and not sure who wrote
it, but it's a great story with a solid lesson to teach and a reminder to every woman. Please continue reading and don't forget to share…..someone outthere might need this!"Biyi hasn't worked for that long?" Dayo's voice dripswith resentment. "For real?" "He's been trying," I sayin feeble attempt to defend my husband. "You know how the economy is."
…My husband and I had vowed never to bring in a third party into our relationship but with a bank account screaming for revival, I need to share my burden with someone else. I grip the phone. Dayo is unusually quiet. "You still there?" I ask. "Hello?" "I am here," she says. "I just didn't know things were this bad. And all this while, I thought Biyi was providing for the home." But he is, I argue silently. Well, maybe not financially for now, but in every way else, Biyi is a rock. "It's not that bad." My words sound frail. Dayo
clucks her tongue. "You might as well be a widow."
The words hit me like a fist. "Na you I blame," she continues, oblivious to the damage her words have caused. "Me? Why?" She is blaming me for this? Seriously?
"Why do you keep paying the bills?" "Because there is no one else to do it," I protest,
upset. "For real? He drives your car too?" "He needs it," I mutter. "To attend job interviews and stuff. He gets back late sometimes." "How late are you talking? "Nine, ten…ish." Dayo pauses for a second. "I hate to say this gurl, but your husband spending your money on another woman." Whoa! Hang on. Where did that come from? "Haba, Dayo. Biyi would never-" "Look, I know men," she slices in. "You are his moneybag and he will take you for a ride as long as it takes. Where is your dignity, gurl?" Ride. Dignity. Moneybag. Ouch. "But he's a good guy," I manage. Can my husband be using me? It had never crossed my mind in the past, but I now wonder if Biyi is actually having an affair. "I trust my wonderful Dennis…," Dayo is saying. I barely listen. My eyes are on the clock. It's almost midnight and Biyi isn't home. I force myself to hear what Dayo is saying about Dennis Ono, her multimillionaire-oil- company-golden-husband. Gosh I envy her life, her perfect marriage. "My marriage is wonderful," Dayo says, as if in affirmation to my undeclared words. "But only because I show Dennis who the boss is. He cannot try nonsense with me. Abi, you think it's easy to get ten thousand pounds a month as pocket money?" She really gets ten grand a month? That's like, my entire annual salary in my crappy job plus bonuses. Life is unfair. Honestly. "I am Biyi's wife," I say. "I cannot just desert him." Or can I?

Ignorance is when u believe it when ur pastors tells u not to live worldly life, and yet he enjoys all d best things in d world, fine houses, cars, jets, babes etc, while u are waiting till u get to heaven to enjoy ur own....

Idiocy is when u refuse to take ur very sick child to d hospital because ur pastor said u should not do so, yet that same pastor secretly runs to USA for medical attention any time he has an headache...

Kolo is when u see a poor beggar on d road and u refuse to give him 50 naira out of d 5000 naira in ur pocket bcos it is ur tithe money....

U are a zombie when u trek, dance and gallivant for 30 kilometers under d hot sun sweating and smelling like shit during your revival program, while ur pastor is inside a full option, factory fitted air-conditioned state of d art SUV with his delectable wife slowing driving along d road.
Stop worshiping ur pastors!!! They are human being like u; they don’t have no power! If they had power they claim they av, Nigeria would not be d way i
