Fans diss Hon. Patrick Obahiagbon calling him a 'political prostitute' after he pays tribute to Nelson Mandela.

The chief of staff to Edo State governor, Hon. Patrick Obahiagbon, was called a political prostitute by a Nigerian after he paid tribute to late Nelson Mandela. It all happened when he tweeted a quote about courage by Nelson Mandela; and a fan asked him if it was the type of courage he displayed when 'Edo Widow' was being insulted by the state governor Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
Hon Patrick Obahiagbon who happened to be at the scene of the incident didn't react to the news when it went viral, but he was quick to shield himself from the blames when someone attacked him via twitter, saying standing at the scene didn't make him guilty.
In honour of Nelson Mandela, Hon Patrick Obahiagbon tweeted:

Human Rights Group demands better poverty alleviation method for Edo widows.

Spaces for Change, a human rights group, has called on state governors to redesign their approaches to poverty alleviation to effectively empower the poor. In a statement reacting to the video, which showed the Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, telling a widow, Mrs. Joy Ifijeh, who was trading on the street to 'go and die', the group said the incident showed a huge disconnect between the ruling class and the governed.

The Executive Director of Spaces for Change, Mrs. Victoria Ibezim-Ohaeri, said though commendable, Oshiomhole's gesture of offering the widow, employment and N2m after the incident was "clearly an afterthought, mainly designed to contain the mounting public censure."
"This Greek gift does not in any way address the bigger issues of widespread poverty and street trading in Benin City nor does it serve as an effective deterrent to future offenders. He should instead, seize the opportunity to rethink and redesign the state's poverty alleviation approaches, ensuring that programmes and services that directly benefit poor citizens are put in place. The state should build on the momentum to develop social security and support-based programmes for enhancing access of low-income groups or individuals to credit or other economic opportunities," she stated.

"I cried all night when Oshiomhole seized my goods" - Edo widow says in exclusive interview.

Comrade Adams Oshiomhole's 'Go & Die' widow, 40 years old Mrs Joy Ifijeh who happens to be a grandmother, granted James Azania of Punch, an exclusive interview where she disclosed infos about her personal life and the struggle of catering for 4 children after being abandoned by her late husband for another woman.

You look young, but you have a grandchild. How old are you?
I was born in 1973.

What do you do for a living?
I am a trader.

What was the total worth of your business?
I can’t say, because I buy goods from different markets and sell them to make money.

How did you feel the day the governor seized your wares: Did you curse him as you went home empty-handed?
No, I did not curse anyone, but I was sad just like the day I lost my husband. That day, I cried to God, and wondered, where do I start from, where am I going to? I told my God to send my helper to me. I can’t keep on suffering till I die.

Did you feel bitter when the governor seized your wares?
Yes. I cried till daybreak. Marvellous put his hand on my head and said, “Mummy, it’s okay.” Then I replied him, saying, “Marvellous, let’s eat.” But he refused. “No, mummy, let us go to sleep,” he told me. I did not eat anything that day until daybreak.

How did you feel when the governor called you?
I lost strength that day, I won’t lie. I did not even get myself. I was surprised when government called me back. Now, I thank my God. I thank everyone in Government House, I thank Adams Oshiomhole, and I thank my God who used him to help me in this condition. I thank my brothers and sisters, and my cousins that helped me when my husband died.

Dutch journalist says Nigeria is filled up with plenty Oshiomholes who are not caught on tape.

Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and the Edo widow incident may have become a thing of the past to some Nigerians but the world is not going to forget it in a flash. Femke Van Zeiji, a Dutch journalist working in Nigeria used Comrade Adams as an example to how Nigerian politicians treat their electorates like shit. She added that Nigeria is filled up with plenty Oshiomoles who are not all politicians.
Oshiomhole incident just caught on tape how politicians think abt their electorate. And Nigerians have and will let them get away with it.
Oshiomhole: rooted in misconception it's ok to treat 'subordinates' like shit. No one criticises u if u bully housegirl, driver, employee...
I'm sorry to say this, but Nigeria has plenty Oshiomholes. They're just not all politicians or caught on tape.
Instead of wasting energy on another teacup storm, think about what TRUE equality among civilians would mean & how it would change Nigeria.

She also said she is not ready to be used as a pawn by the PDP on the chessboard of politics, advising the party to give the said money to another widow instead.

She disclosed this during the presentation of her letter of appointment into the Edo State War Against Indiscipline to her by Special Adviser to Governor Oshiomhole on Media and Public Affairs, Mr Kassim Afegbua at the Government House in Benin City.

This is crazy! Watch how traffic law enforcement agents exploit drivers in Edo State (Video)

This video was captured at the Traffic Enforcement Agency along Sapele Road in Benin City.
According to the cameraman who happened to be one of the victims, "On this day, while driving around Sapele Road, a female traffic officer jumped out of an obscure location, raised her hand on a 45 miles/hour traffic. Immediately, every driver came to a screeching halt. Some other traffic officers (mostly males) rushed out of their cars and started arresting all the drivers for "made up" offenses. It was later learned that it is their strategy to arrest and exploit the driving masses. On the way to their office, they requested for bribes. If you bargained too low, they took you to the office and their supervisor will then set the non-negotiable bribe amount. 5,000 Naira bribes were paid by most drivers on this day."

Watch the video of Gov. Adams apologising to 'go and die' widow in government house.

The video of governor Adams Oshiomhole apologizing to Mrs Joy Ifije, the 'go and die' widow whom he insulted in Benin City. To err is human but to forgive is devine. I'm sure this will serve as warning to the people of the state who can't or don't want to abide by the law, help the governor to help you. Beautifying the state is not a one-man-business, its for everyone to do and for everyone to enjoy. Though the governor overreacted at the beginning but the man is trying but the people are not helping matters.
Good job Mr Gov.

Governor Adams Oshiomhole apologised to the widow he insulted, offered her N2m & a job. (Photos)

Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has offered employment to the widow, Mrs Joy Ifije, whom he insulted last week, asking her to "go and die" while she was begging him to release her seized goods by men of the State War Against Indiscipline for obstructing Mission road in the state capital.

The Governor announced the job offer to the woman in a breakfast meeting with her at the Government House, earlier today, 2nd Dec. 2013. In addition to the job, the governor also offer her a N2 million grant for her to get a shop and trade; her job would be to join the state's War Against Indiscipline in the campaign against street trading and to keep the state clean.

The Governor who again apologised to the widow said
"when you put your things on the road a vehicle can run into you and they have killed some people like that and that was why I said if you are a widow do you want more people to be widowed? But when I said go and die, that one was said in a fit of anger. And I am really sorry. I want you to join us. We would employ you and pay you salary. You would help us to campaign to other women not to trade on road sides. We should not use poverty as a yardstick. We would also talk to taxi and bus drivers not to block roads when carrying passengers. You will assist me to talk to women and traders not to litter the roads and sidewalks so that people walking and driving can have free road. If they want to park they can park properly so as not to disturb others."

Pot calls Kettle black! Edo PDP diss Oshiomole for insulting a widow & promised to pay her N250,000.

I'm so lol in chinese language...this is the story of the pot calling the kettle black Edo State PDP has released a press statement, condenming the state governor for insulting a widow by asking her to go die out of anger for not respecting the law. In the statement, the Edo State PDP invite the widow to visit the PDP secretariat in the state to receive the sum of N250,000.

For many years PDP ruled the state, they didn't set up an endowment fund for the widows in the state and now they are using the mis-guarded utterance of the governor as their political tools for next election. Isn't it funny that it took the misbehavior of the governor for the PDP to remember the existence of the widow.

Comrade Adams Oshiomhole apologises to FOMWAN for insulting a widow in Benin City. (Video)

Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has apologised for the comments he made to a widow in Benin City during an inspection tour along Mission Road in the State Capital, when he asked her to 'go and die' while the woman was begging him not to confiscate her goods. Speaking to the Leadership of the Federation of muslim Women's Association of Nigeria, Oshiomhole said that he regretted the comments which had become the subject of discourse in the social media. The governor, however, noted that he made the comments in anger. He urged the women leaders to use their offices to propagate the essence of healthy living among women in the nation and the need to maintain sanitary conditions in their neighbourhood.

"Go And Die" Governor Adams Oshiomole Tells A Poor Widow (Video)

In leadership and governance, there's a place for 'Human face', and no matter the circumstances, widows to the best of my knowledge are integral part of our society and if we don't apply human face when dealing with them, am afraid we are far from getting there as a people. I can't fathom why the Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole will treat this widow like this and even tell her to 'go and die' when she's struggling to provide food for her family. I think it would've been far better to make her pay a fine for her wrongdoing than this humiliation.

One can try to excuse the act of the governor for some gimmicks like 'sacrifices for the greater good of the community' but, the approach and the choice of words by the governor is nothing short of wickedness, callousness, insensitivity and thoughtlessness to say the least. He should be ashamed of himself for uttering such words. He is not expected to say such things to anybody, let alone a widow
And to say he was a former NLC chairman who claimed he was fighting for the masses beats me. Words fail me.

Gov. Adams Oshiomhole talks life as a widower, praised late wife & gave reasons why he has not remarried.

Governor Adams Oshiomhole who celebrated his 5th anniversary as the governor of Edo State last Tuesday in grand style discussed national issues and his life as a widower with journalists. When asked why he has not remarried after the demise of his late wife, Mrs. Clara Oshiomhole nee Akharagbon, who passed on Tuesday, December 7, 2010, after a protracted battle with breast cancer. The governor gave a long talk on how good and irreplaceable his late wife is and declared that his greatest regret in life today is her death.
Excerpts from the interview:
Why have you not remarried since you lost your wife?
I wish you would have avoided the question because really when I talk about my late wife, people may not understand why? You are in a position to judge whether to agree or disagree. When a man in my own case has the privilege of being elected as a state governor or president, your wife’s status changes automatically to the first lady of the state or the country with all the glamour that goes with it.
To have the kind of wife I had, who was familiar with all the police stations in Kaduna and outside, and sometimes searching for her husband who might have gone to work and detained by Police on account of trade union work, it was her lot to stand by me and she bore all the deprivations of a husband you were never sure where he was going to be at the next minute. At a point, she called me an absentee husband.

Why is Governor Adams Oshiomole's billboard on a private project? Is he a shareholder in Shoprite Edo?

On Wednesday 13th November 2013, Governor Adams Oshiomhole laid the foundation stone of $45 million shoprite shopping mall in Edo State. Just few days after the event, there are billboards all over the state thanking the governor for bringing Shoprite to Edo State. It's really funny to have the governor's billboard on a private project. Shoprite has already been existing in Nigeria for long and no one put up a billboard to thank Fashola for bringing it to Lagos State, nobody did the same for Enugu, Port Harcourt, Abuja, Ibadan etc but it's only in Edo state you have government officials brainwash Edolites, making them think that a shopping mall being built by a foreign company is a state government project and that he should be thanked for it.

Governor Adams Oshiomhole laid the foundation stone of a $45 million shopping mall in Edo State.

Governor Adams Oshiomhole (2nd right) unveils the plaque at the foundation-laying ceremony of an ultra-modern Shopping Mall in Benin City, with him (right) is Mr Olumide Akinsanya, MD Median Development; Hon Frank Evbuomwan, Commissioner for Lands and Urban Development (left) and Mr Holden Marshall, MD Resilient Africa.
The Governor of Edo State, comrade Adams Oshiomhole laid the foundation stone for a N7.4 billion ($45 million) ultra-modern Shopping Mall (Shoprite) in Benin City yesterday 13th November 2013, with the assurance that government will continue to create a conducive atmosphere for businesses to thrive in the State. The site of the shopping mall is at Dumez/Sapele Road, where there used to be a primary school that was relocated because of excessive flooding.
While briefing the newsmen, the governor said:
"our investment in urban renewal and our investment in other infrastructure by way of road expansion and building new ones in both urban and rural areas, the provision of electricity, procurement of transformers, building health centres and all of the other things we have been doing is to make Edo State so attractive not only for the people here also to attract those who are not here. I like to recall that six years ago, during my campaign in 2007, anytime I was coming from Lagos to Benin, there was only one old aircraft with about fifteen or twenty passengers seat, house rent in Benin was very low, many houses were abandoned. This is to make the point that as we speak today, we have two or three airlines that now fly to Benin

Gov. Adams Oshiomole Sued To Court Over Okada Ban In Edo State + People's Response.

The people of Edo State has instituted a law suit at the Federal High Court in Benin City against the Edo State Governor - Comrade Adams Oshiomole, the Edo State Commissioner of Police, the State Director of Department of State Services (SSS), the Civil Defense Force and the Attorney General of Edo State, for placing a BAN on OKADA(commercial motorcycle) and for the gross violation of the Fundamental Human Rights of Edo People.

The people have asked the court to tell them if the Edo State governor has the right to verbally make laws for Edo people.

The court has fixed July 8th 2013 for hearing and the people of the state are calling on lovers of democracy to come out and make their voice and presence count on that day.

Meanwhile, there has been mixed reaction from some Edo people who think politicizing the ban and  using this means to condemn Comrade Oshiomole so as to gain nomination in PDP 2015.
